Dual-Mode - definition
In a mobile network, dual-mode refers to two (2) bands operating in the same device such as mobile is operating both GSM and WCDMA or 1x and WCDMA. More or less every smartphone supports dual-mode because in many areas there is no 3G coverage then to keep the device up and running and to keep the phone connected to the network it must have 2G support as well so that if needed it can switch automatically.
