It was part of mobile device chassis years ago. Various phone manufacturers used to give the accessibility to the user to change the battery cover and use multiple colored covers. The major purpose of the exchangeable covers was to introduce various choices of people and fashion purposes as well. Brands like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Symphony, and a few others used to bring devices with exchangeable cover support. Cases were found inside the mobile packaging. Sometimes, customized third-party cases were found in the local market also.
