GLONASS - definition

GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is nothing but a navigation satellite system just like GPS. Though GPS provides slightly better accuracy compared to GLONASS still because of different positioning of GLONASS satellites, basically GLONASS has better accuracy than GPS in higher latitude. GLONASS has 26 satellites in total. It is mostly used for military and civilian purposes. The accuracy of GLONASS is about 2.8 to 7.28 meters.
Most of today’s smartphones have this system in-built for better positioning accuracy.
