gpsOneXTRA Assistance technology - definition

gpsONEXTRA was introduced by Qualcomm Inc. back in 2007, the innovator of CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technologies. It is the successor of gpsONE which was previously introduced and used in Qualcomm chips for having better positioning access. But one drawback of gpsONE was it couldn’t provide any precise result independently, with the help of A-GPS it could navigate properly.
But gpsOneXTRA is the standalone system using which users can get the exact appropriate positioning result even user is under an overly crowded place or extreme indoor condition such as an underground pathway or in a heavily contained building structure. During the launch event of gpsOneXTRA, Mark Frankel (vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies) mentioned, “Qualcomm's gpsOneXTRA Assistance technology means wireless users can benefit from positioning capabilities on their handset even in environments where GPS is not available, such as deep indoors”.
