HEVC - definition
HEVC stands for High-Efficiency Video Coding, aka H.265 and MPEG-H Part 2. HEVC is a video compression standard designed as part of the MPEG-H. It is the successor of AVC (Advanced Video Coding). HEVC support picture resolution up to 8K UHD or, 8192x4320. The high-Efficiency Image Format (HEIF) is based on HEVC.
Nowadays smartphones offer both AVC and HEVC when recording video, but to use HEVC, the device must have a faster data write speed (if using an expandable memory). HEVC also requires more space than the AVC format.
